During the summer, all fields are operated under the auspices of the Stephenville Leisure and Recreation Council. Each respective program operates with its own entity in relation to staff, field schedules and volunteers. Please check with the summer program coordinators in June of each year to get contact numbers for sport leaders.

Whaleback Nordic Ski Club

Whaleback Nordic embarked on its humble beginnings in 1968. Since that time we have hosted the following prestigious events from regional, provincial and national competitions.  The club offers a Jackrabbit Program, instruction for beginners and night skiing to an enthusiastic membership of 300 plus. The chalet maybe humble but warm and hospitable and is presently staffed by volunteers and paid staff.

The trails at Whaleback Nordic are undulating with several sections that can be classed as moderately taxing. Whaleback usually gets an abundant annual snowfall. You can expect to find new snow conditions with temperatures between -2 to -8 C; unfortunately these ideal temperatures cannot be guaranteed.

There are also dedicated trails to the snow walkers. Several kilometres have been stomped for this popular sport!
